Refried Beans

Ingredients
- ¼ cup water for saute
- 2 (15 oz) cans pinto beans, drained and rinsed
- ½ cup water
- ½ small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- ½ teaspoon cumin
- ½ teaspoon chili powder
Instructions
- Saute. In a medium sauce pan, heat oil or water, saute onions for 5 minutes, add garlic saute for 1 more minute.
- Add remaining ingredients. Add in the beans, spices and water, bring to a simmer, and cook for 5 minutes.
- Puree or mash the beans. You can mash them using the back of a fork or slotted spoon, or a potato masher.
- Store: Leftovers can be kept in the refrigerator for up to 4–5 days.
